Dear God, I can handle this.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says,

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I was given this article to publish. But I was sleepy, so I decided to write up on it today. Fast forward till today, I picked up my notepad to jot. Immediately as I began to type, I lost inspiration.

Why? What happened?

Suddenly, I recalled why it was so. The title of this article is “Dear God, I can handle this by myself”, in truth, I was writing by my own understanding—not God’s knowledge, even though it was for God. Most at times, this is what we all do. We forget about the help and wisdom of the One who is very interested in our affairs, and rather stick to our self sufficiency which is so limited.

God is more interested in your affairs than you can imagine. He has every individual in the whole world in His heart and mind. He is thinking about you and I every second of the day. He wants us to rely on His wisdom because God’s wisdom has no error or flaw. There has and will never be any record of God making a mistake. But there is always a flaw with the human nature. As humans we are prone to errors. It is inescapable for mankind.

But God doesn’t want us to make mistakes, it was always His plan for us to be perfect. But deception has stolen a lot from humans. You can never be perfect. Even if you have the Holy Spirit, He makes allowances for you to think by Yourself and be human.

God wants to ask Him how we can run our affairs. Especially in major decisions.

Seek God’s counsel, know what pleases Him, try to find out His intentions and interests. You will be amazed at how blessed you will be to receive His counsel.

Each time we make decisions without finding out God’s thoughts about it, we inevitably tell God “Dear God, I can handle this”. Biblically, we know how it ended for Israelites who lived their lives without the consent of the Lord.

A quick question for you, how many decisions have you made and are you making without asking for God’s thoughts on it?

And how many have you hesitated to get a direction from God on what to do?

Have a blessed weekend ahead!
